Introduction

Every participant had to bring a wine (or a few) of the theme. We did not know which wines were brought by the others. All wines were tasted blind, also without knowing when the wine you brought was poured.

Flight 1 (1 Note)

Flight 2 (1 Note)

  • 2007 Goulée 88 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc

Although the wine is almost 10 years old, the bouquet is still creamy and lactic with red and dark forest fruits and vanilla. On the palate red berries, firm acidity, vanilla, slightly sticky tannin, herbs, berries, earthy and bell pepper impression. Tasty wine. Young maturity now and certainly ok into the early 2020's. 87 - 88+

Flight 3 (3 Notes)

  • 2004 Clos du Marquis 90 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

Beautiful dark forest fruits, graphite and luxurious oak in the bouquet. On the palate a classical wine with cassis and other dark berries, some minerals and chocolate, good acidity and round tannin with still a good bite. The wine is still in its young maturity stage and no problem to store this until 2020 – 2022.

  • 2003 Château Sociando-Mallet 92 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Haut-Médoc

Opened yesterday and now in my glass again. Day one the bouquet was locked and not very expressive. Now ripe black forest fruits, graphite and some licorice and good oak. On the palate dark forest fruits, minerals, licorice, firm acidity and still powerful and sticky tannin. This wine needs more time in the bottle. Until 2024+ will be no problem at all. Day one I scored the wine 90. Day two 92+
