Fruity nose but darker red black fruit.
PnP. This one needs time and decanting.
Very dark bold finish. Long dark finish. This seems to have great potential.

PnP.
Fruity Napa floor cab for me. Tannins 7/10.
Full bodied. Bright rich ruby red. Chalky dusty finish with light brown soil. Some acidity comes through in the finish.

Higher acidity than Scanlon. Lacks fruit.
Dusty fruit with strong tannins 8/10. Floral notes on the palate.
Not yet fully integrated.

This was the initial vintage.
The alchol is still high and not fully integrated. I understand that these have been made to age many years so I assume this should be given at least a further 5 or 6 years before trying again.

This is a tannic bomb (8.5/10) and it had 22 months in 100% new oak. It has a fruitier nose with more cassis and raspberry than the normal estate cab.

A little pricey (especially compared to Scalon).
Not as fruity as the Clone 341 but very close. Very young with lots of tannin with a light steely finish.

Purple body and not at all fruity like a typical Australian Shiraz. This is a very, very restrained wine. (Got 95 pts from Parker)
The mid-palate has acidity that holds onto your tongue.
A light dusty smokey finish which is dry. Light mountain misty style but not what I might have expected from Napa

I do love the Cab Mendoza Clone (Clone 3 I think) which this comes from. This is a lot fruitier than the Howell Mountain.
Dark sandy tannins with a cassis nose. It clearly has the alcohol in the body but is integrated. A great wine.

This was rounded and smooth even given its youthfulness. Nice tannins at 7/10. There is a light woodyness in the finish which is pleasant. Many layers, power and fruitiness all together here.
The cab franc (10%) was co-fermented.

I really enjoyed this.
More strawberry on the nose than the other cabs in the lineup. Also has cassis on the nose.
Strong powerful tannins at 8.5/10 and very dry in the finish. Hopefully the dryness subsides a little in the future.
Other than the dryness, this is distinctively Napa.

Chalkier and dusty compared to the 2014

This definitely needs decanting - I had it as a PnP and I could feel the improvement over the hour.
Well bodied (7/10) with powerful tannins (8/10). Rich and concentrated with a medium long finish.
This is still too youthful and the alcohol sits on tops of the wine throughout. You can smell the alcohol on the nose. Hopefully it will integrate over the next 5 to 10 years.

Richer than the Cariad with darker fruit and a lingering long finish.
Light cassis at the bottom of the nose together with baking spices.
A fruity mid palate with powerful tannins (8.5/10) - This could be a point or two higher in the next few years.

Fruity mid palate with a light dryness in the finish.
Drinkable now - also has strawberry and cassis in the nose.

I am confused in a nice way - the nose and the initial attack seems to indicate the wine is going to be sweet and very fruity - then away the sweetness goes to a dry white wine.
The fruit is Rutherford.

High alcohol on the nose and the body (ie it is not yet integrated)
It is flat by comparison with the rest of the Chimney Rock line up

87 cab with 11 merlot.
A very straight simple finish that seems to flatline.

Tasted with Juan on the Estate (and I love the labels!)
Initially not as fruity on the nose as the Bard, however the nose develops over an hour or so. Heavy tannins. 8/10.
Darker black chocolate than the Bard and very dark purple.
All new French oak. 18 months. Local vineyard fruit.

Dark ruby red with a fruity nose.
Classic 100% new French oak. Tannins 7.5.
Dark red fruit with a dark black finish.
Unfortunately coming back to the white label from the black label is not a good idea as the black label clearly kills the white label. The acidity in the white then shows through and the finish is significantly shorter.

2010 VHR Cabernet Sauvignon Vine Hill Ranch 91 Points

Limited nose with light red fruit and cinnamon.
A rich sipping wine with a strong gravelly finish which I have never tasted before. Rich mid palate with dark fruit at the end before the finish.
Not as rounded or heavyily silky as the Continuum 2014 we just finished.
I think with a few hours decant this should improve nicely by a point or 3.
