A few of us met for dinner at my house for some Trocken Rieslings and some food which consisted of Bouillabaisse as a starter and Potee aux Choux for the main dish. Great evening.
Pale straw, on the nose petrol, slate, peach pit, white flowers. On the palate white peach, green apple, minerals. Amazing balance and complexity with a dry, long finish. This is serious stuff.
Unfortunately, not a great showing today compared to the one I had back in February. Pale straw, nose is quite muted with a bit of petrol, apricot. On the palate some citrus. Then I decided to decant it, it helped just a bit. Bottle variation?
Comes in a 'Bocksbeutel' type bottle which literally means 'goat's balls' by the way. Pale straw color. Holy f%&#! The nose is killer! Fennel, ripe pears, honeysuckle, slightly grassy. Why drink it with a nose like that? On the palate layers and layers of pears, peaches. The finish never ends. 14.5% Alcohol but you don't feel it, the wine is better when kept chilled though. First experience with this producer but surely not the last.
