Decanted - out of magnum. Huge, chalky/coarse tannins to start - after a lengthy decant, these softened. Mint and dark red berries with a hint of cedar - and a nice, solid finish.
Coffee and chocolate dominate the nose, opening up as the night wore on. Nice burst of dark fruits and some pepper with an above average finish. My third favorite wine of the night.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Decanted 3 hours. Better out of the gate than with air, lost a lot of its punch and surprisingly its fruit. Started very primary, with hearty blasts of minerally raspberry and some iron. A light touch of garrigue and herbs. Midpalate needs some time to flesh out, the finish was excellent.

This failed to excite, muted nose with some plummy flavors and heat on the back end. Tannic.

Unimpressive, some nice blueberry fruit on the palate, but not much in the way of aromatics or length.
