This wine remains a a wonderful, juicy, fun syrah that went beautifully with a hearty tri-tip dinner. Dark, youthful-looking purple, the wine's nose was a bit more reticent than the palate. Notes of pepper, dark berries, and spice. The palate is well-balanced and not shy: excellent acid balance and structure support the dark fruit, chocolate-toned, and underlying earthy flavors. Decent enough finish. Great stuff, especially for the money.

A bit reticent out of the gate, giving a green bell pepper and black pepper aroma. Tad hot. Once this baby gets some air, look out. Nose morphs into a caramelized, brown sugar, spice, black coffee and pepper bouquet. The fruit here pumps through, exploding like Hubba Bubba gum with root beer barrel candy and dark black candied fruit. Plentiful finish. One dimensional, but great for what it is. Amazing price too, under $30 at Bottle Barn.

Chateau Dr. Z (Chateau Dr. Z): Coffee and chocolate dominate the nose, opening up as the night wore on. Nice burst of dark fruits and some pepper with an above average finish. My third favorite wine of the night.
