Medium straw. Minerally, touch of lemon, occasional whiff of wet wool. Medium bodied, mineral, citrus, nice enough but lacking verve and complexity. ***
Pale straw. Lovely pure fruit, aromatic, peachy, floral notes. Very youthful. Dry, stone fruit, balanced acidity, very good length florally finish. Harmonious and composed without being, at this stage at least, all that exciting. ***(*1/2).

2/12. Aromatic, fragrant, red cherry fruit, florals, touch of game. Medium bodied, very fine but still discernible tannins, pure red cherry fruit, touch of savour, soil, complex, fresh acidity, long finish. Excellent and with a bit more to give ****(*).
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Ruchottes-Chambertin Grand Cru
A touch closed initially, opening out quite quickly to reveal dark fruit, a touch of meatiness, then some liquorice. Medium/full bodied, soft tannins, balanced acidity, finishes a touch short but very enjoyable nonetheless. ***1/2
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru
Reticent with brooding dark fruit, with air showing a touch of spice. Still quite firm on the palate with a lovely, composed dark fruit profile, balanced acidity and a good length if still quite firm finish. Needs a bit more time - potentially excellent ***(*1/2)

From magnum. Dark fruit, spice, meaty, touch of dung. Medium/full, rich, meaty black fruits, spicy, fresh acidity, good length grippy finish. Immensely enjoyable ****.
1996 Pierre Péters Champagne Grand Cru Cuvée Speciale Blanc de Blancs Les Chetillons
France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru
Rich, yet minerally nose, ripe apple, touch of citrus. Mousse a touch firm at first, fresh acidity, mineral comes through again on the vgl finish.
