Vintage 2012. From two parcels in Mardeuil, La Genette (0,55ha) and La Chapotte (0,55ha), organic and biodaynamic viticulture, Pinot Meunier 55%, Pinot Noir 5%, Chardonnay 40%, fermented and aged in oak on the fine lees for 9 months, bottled unfined and unfiltered in May 2013, disgorged November 2016, dosage <4.5gr/l, 4500 bottles produced. Forward, fruity, yeasty, pure, ripe but fresh, dry but juicy, mineral, Meunier spice, good length. More about energy and individuality than about complexity. Lovely.
Cool, fresh, energetic and mineral, tangy citrus fruit and some orange and tropical notes, nice extra weight and yeasty complexity from the lees ageing with some batonnage, clean as a whistle, good flavours and length. Slightly technical, but deftly put together.
Plummy and nutty but fresh, chalky minerality and lift, orange, no rusticity at all, could easily be mistaken for a Cognac, stylish and delightful, little or no heat in the finish, good length. A beautiful blend.
