France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet
Low key nose, just a hint of some floral top notes. More gras here than the St Aubin wines. Really quite rich upfront, baby Bâtard indeed. Relatively light on the finish, with only slight length. The vineyard and vintage are all up front here. A slight astringency on the finish. Vines 85 yrs old. ***

Magnum. More expressive, classic nose. More complex and with some real depth. Far more substance and depth on the palate too, without the superficial flab of the 15. Good length, though noticeably less so than the 14 Chenevottes. More mid-palate richness though. Very drinkable and no crime to do so now. ****
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Deeper and slightly dusty, herbal nose. Less upfront here, a relatively docile attack before a real mid-palate explosion of lime, minerality and a lovely line. Lots of energy. Very persistent, grippy mineral finish with fresh acidity. ****
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Very distinctive nose. Floral, herby, almost pollen rather than a classic floral scent. Lots of grip here. Real intensity and length. Herbal intensity. Mineral grip. Needs longer. Could be really good if everything pulls through together ***(*1/2), **** if not.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Similar pollen-laden, intense nose. Similar palate intensity too, but a little more open and creamy. Again, the slightly honey/pollen texture at the edge of the mid-palate. Positive finish. More approachable but less latent power/intensity. ****
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Magnum. On the nose this is a slightly subdued version of the 14. Quite ripe and rounded on the palate, some of the floral, honeyed notes on the finish. There's power here, but just enough freshness on the finish. ****
