Plenty of apple and baked apple with some berry notes and a rich, bready character. Slightly tart finish. 50% each Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Disgorged July 2017. 2014 vintage base (60%) with 40% from 2013.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Peach, floral and toasted hazelnut with fatty richness and wonderful balance. Nicely rounded and balanced middle forward with good+ weight and length. Served alongside the 2014, which will be a better wine, but needs more time.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Very floral with good spice and a cross-section of apple aromas and flavors. Palate really showcases Genevrières' minerality, with a lean and long finish that needs more cellar time to achieve perfect harmony. 92 points today, with upside from here. Served alongside the 2013 vintage, which was slightly more enjoyable right not, even though not as cellarworthy as this 2014.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges 1er Cru
Purchased in 2014 from a reputable retailer, so I thought I should have confidence in condition and provenance. However, cork simply disintegrated. Plenty of ripe black fruit with good weight, but a little stewy and getting tired.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Nuits St. Georges
Open an hour+ before serving. Lots of bright and ripe red fruit with signs of both sweet and savory spice. Impeccable balance and charm, with good+ weight and length.
