France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
Rich and ripe orchard fruit with floral charm and hints of butterscotch and mint. . Comes across as fat to start, but bright and energetic through to long and harmonious finish. Kept getting better for several hours in glass.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
Seemed slightly advanced to start, but this brightened up with more air. Lots of peach and baked apple with good density and slightly sweet spice. Good minerality on finish, but more acidity would have helped.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru
Mint, floral with lots of apple. Still nicely fresh with very good concentration and balance, good weight. Also would have preferred slightly more acidity.
Open, decanted an hour+ before serving. Red cherry and licorice to start, still slightly tight and tart. Softened and evened out with more air (and food), with all the rough edges smoothed out. Some smoked meat and baked rhubarb emerged over time.
Opened, decanted 90 minutes before serving. Caramelized and dried red cherry aromas and flavors with brown sugar and floral charm. Lots of earth, but clean, delicate and texturally so elegant. Also kept getting better for an hour+, then slowly started to shorten.
Opened, decanted 2 hours before serving. Served just after the 1968. Big, burly, rugged and rustic. Ripe plum and some blood sausage character. Very good raw materials, but not quite harmonious right now. Others enjoyed this wine more, and thought it just needs more time. Bottle with perfect provenance in Piedmont.
Opened, decanted two hours before serving. Mature red cherry, hints of cocoa and mild chili pepper. Nose>palate. Good+ balance, good length. Bottle with perfect provenance in Piedmont. Served just before the 1964, which should have been better given vintage, but seemed too backward.
Opened, decanted almost three hours before serving. Dried rose petal, mushroom and dried red and black cherry with anise and white pepper. Superbly elegant, long and wonderfully harmonious. Bottle with perfect provenance in Piedmont.

Disgorged Sept 2016. Very rich, long, powerful and bready. Oxidative style very pronounced throughout, with a fresher and brighter finish.

Very good mint and lots of fruit, but far more advanced vs where it should be at this age. First of two premox bottles. European bottling.
