Imported in the Netherlands by Figo van Onna, the excellent sommelier of restaurant Choux. Made from 100% Pinot Noir according to the metodo classico, tiraggio 8 April 2011, sboccatura 6 November 2016, no dosage, 12.5% ABV, bottle 2101 from 5000 produced. Pale to medium salmon orange colour; vinous style but not too ripe, has lovely freshness and energy, good fruit and length.
An excellent 2011, has aged very well, retains its citrus and stone fruit and displays a lovely balance between firm acidity and salted butter richness, convincing finish.
Single vineyard Trousseau, destemmed by hand, alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in cuve, aged in foudre for one year, bottled unfined and unfiltered in October 2011 and kept in reserve at the domaine for another five years. No added sulphite, 13% ABV. Both delicate and intense, pure, expressive, lovely persistence.
A blend from the 2011 and 2012 vintages, "sans chimie ajoutée", 14% ABV. Not clear, pretty wild aromatically. It may be very pure and natural, but like so many of these wines, it also lacks individuality and terroir expression. If you want "just wine", this is fine, but I want more.
Magnum. Made from two parcels of vines (Ugni Blanc mainly) in the village of Champmillon, farmed organically since 1990. Lot No. 313 consists of 319 litres, this is bottle No. 000690, 46.8% ABV. Elegant, seamless, balances youthful fruit and nutty age, lovely intensity, pure and precise, very good persistence.
