Marriot on Pitt Street, Sydney
Tasted Tuesday, May 22, 2018 by chatters with 314 views
A showing of the current Negotiant imported wine release. Pencil sharpened and sleeves rolled up…these are by order of tables rather than tasting. It was a bit of a meander around….
As well as the above I also went through the Emilio Lustau sherries but all of the notes were a nominal variation of either lovely or yum & great QPR so I haven't reproduced them here...
2016 Bernhard Ott Gemischter Satz
Austria, Niederösterreich, Wagram
Pretty floral notes, touches of stone (especially peaches) and citrus fruit. This translates to the palate offering a juicy, easy, quaffable though with a slightly short finish

2016 Bernhard Ott Riesling Feuersbrunn
Austria, Niederösterreich, Wagram
Green apple, and lime, a little high toned. In the mouth the wine is juicy, tangy and tight though it's also almost a little off dry - there is richness here as well as a little warmth on the finish. Time should lend complexity.

2010 Hugel Pinot Gris Grossi Laüe
France, Alsace
Slightly funky, earthy, gamey almost, a little wild ferment, honey, slightly oxidative. On the palate it was honey, pear, pear skin, bitter on the long finish with a rich mid palate. I find this compelling…it is stimulating…I want to spend time with it.

2015 Georges Dubœuf Morgon Domaine des Versauds

France, Burgundy, Beaujolais, Morgon
Ripe cherry, slightly reductive with touches of nail polish. Tight, sour with the tannins drying the front of the palate…it feels like it is trying a little too hard.
