France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru
Bottle perfectly stored since release. Slightly musty to start, then opening up with ripe orchard fruit and impressive weight and depth. I expected it would get better for 15-20 minutes and then plateau, but this kept getting better and bigger over two hours.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Bottle perfectly stored since release. Very dark color was cause for immediate concern, especially since it darkened so much in the first few minutes in glass. Almost enjoyable aromas, then slightly better flavors with almond paste and candied walnut with fully, fully mature orchard fruit. Much more advanced than other (somewhat) recent bottles.
Ripe red cherry and berry throughout with sweet spice and intriguing nuance and 1er Cru density, plus close on its complexity as well. So tasty now, still probably having some upside from here.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton Grand Cru
Great fill and color. Not even close to the quality level of the previous bottles from the same case in the past few years, this came across as musty and tired, seemingly oxidized. While the mustiness faded over the course of a the few hours open, this never became particularly interesting.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru
Mature red cherry aromas and flavors with savory Asian five spice. As much earth as fruit, with a bit of funk, I would suggest this is best enjoyed over the next few years. Good weight and length.
