Small glass, brief note. Ripe apple throughout with toasted rye bread notes. Good weight and length and even better balance. This is more open/ easy/ accessible than I expected for young Chétillons, but also slightly less power.

Came across as very advanced when popped-and-poured, despite great density of fat orchard fruit and broad array of sweet spice. While this certainly freshened up and became enjoyable, it never achieved the level of pleasure anticipated.

At least moderately oxidized.

Small glass, brief note. From the same case as another great bottle opened three years ago. Rich and dense with lots of powerful apple and pear aromas and flavors. Still surprisingly fresh. Very long and powerful, even if not typically Chablis-like in terms of textures. Great now, this should continue to hold well for many years to come.

Popped-and-poured, tasted immediately and then I set aside my glass to tasted again 45 minutes later. Stayed very consistent the entire time. Great nose of lighter styled mature red cherry and berry with Asian five spice. Similar flavors, just more subdued with slightly less nuance. This did pick up some weight and length given the extra 45 minutes in glass. 93 point nose, 87 point palate.

Almost everybody expected this was fake, given the number of questionable elements with the label, bottle and their respective conditions. Those expectations were correct. And the wine, while most likely from Vosne in a lesser vintage, was not particularly enjoyable. I would want to upload a photo of the label, but there is no way to indicate it as fake.

Small glass, brief note. Charming Vosne spice with plenty of earth and enough fully mature red fruit. Everything in balance for this challenging vintage, good weight and length.

Corked.

Tasted double blind. Spice driven wine perfectly executed with gloriously maturing red fruit. So much complexity here with layers unfolding with very good+ length and good+ weight. I immediately thought this from Vosne, but when the bottle's owner told me I was wrong (!), I then said it must be from Dujac. So I was correct on both fronts. Some thought it from 2002, and while I thought it older (1998 or 1999), was surprised it was this old, and from a vintage Dujac mostly destemmed.

So powerful and alluring, but tonight's bottle is just so firmly structured that the acidity dominates the finish. Another bottle earlier this year was certainly softer and more accessible. There is no doubt this is a superb wine-in-the-making, just some bottles (like tonight's) require more patience. Thankfully I am patient with my wine.

From magnum. Ripe peach and lemon curd with slightly sweet spice. Densely packed, still ever-so-slightly backward. Great length. Wonderful now (92 points?), with upside (93+?)

Served double blind in what turned out to be a great Vosne 1er Cru flight. This was my favorite of the flight. Cross-section of black and red cherry aromas and flavors with background spice and very good concentration and length. Charming and accessible already, quite surprising for 2005, but consistent with prior bottles in recent years.

Served double blind in what turned out to be a great Vosne 1er Cru flight. Engaging fruit and spice came across as prototypically Vosne with good depth and length. Seemed slightly backward for now with lots of potential.

Served double blind in what turned out to be a great Vosne 1er Cru flight. Red and black cherry with meaty character, good+ weight. Woodsy and slightly sweet spice.

1990 Krug Champagne Vintage Brut 93 Points
France, Champagne
Ripe apple and baked apple come across as rich and powerful in a dense and concentrated package. Slightly oxidative aromas with yeast and toasted brioche, but fresher on palate. Very impressive length as well.

2008 Coche-Dury Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières 97 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Single blind alongside Corton-Charlemagne 2008. Enticing floral start with savory spice, apple, pear and lemon curd plus a touch of toasted hazelnut. Linear and precise with exceptional minerality and length, seeming to get even more powerful on finish. Wonderful nose, but better in another 5 years. Correctly identified in the flight.

2008 Coche-Dury Corton-Charlemagne 98 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Served single blind alongside Perrieres 2008. Apple and baked apple with massive and alluring concentration. So complex already with its fruit, spice with a honeycomb/ stone fruit middle, then a bright, minerally finish. Seems so open and accessible to start that the compact/ backward finish is easy to miss, but this seems 5+ years from showing its full potential.

2005 Coche-Dury Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières 97 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Enticing floral start with so much baking spice and ripe orchard fruit. Bold and powerful apple and pear flavors come across as so dense from start-to-middle, then softening on finish. At its peak now, this wine is better now vs the 2008 in the prior flight, but without quite the same potential. Perfect harmony. Wonderfully fresh vs almost any 2005 white Burgundy.

2004 Coche-Dury Corton-Charlemagne 94 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Tasted single blind alongside the 2004 Perrieres. Maturing yellow and green apple aromas and flavors with lots of floral notes and background spice. Very long and precise with an intense minerally finish with some bitter, earthy hints.

2004 Coche-Dury Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières 95 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru
Tasted single blind alongside the 2008 Corton-Charlemagne. Rich peach and apple are maturing nicely and grudgingly with lots of energy and finesse. Voluptuous middle is fully engaging. I incorrectly thought this was the CC.

2000 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche 95 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, La Tâche Grand Cru
Served single blind alongside the 2001. Fleshy red cherry, some berry start-to-finish, with sweet spice, cherry pie and vanilla. Good+ weight and length, with perfect balance and completely alluring charm. Incredibly elegant tannins. Correctly identified which wine was which.

2001 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti La Tâche 93 Points
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, La Tâche Grand Cru
Single blind alongside the 2000. Black and red cherry with savory Asian five spice. More concentration vs the 2000, but also more structure and less charm today. Upside from here. Correctly identified which wine was which.
