Canada
Tasted Wednesday, July 26, 2017 - Sunday, July 30, 2017 by TashNYC with 265 views
We visited because it was well known and what a great place. I was surprised the still wines (200 cases max, Canada only and not exported) were of such high quality. We especially loved the sauvignon blanc and cabernet franc. It was also a great lunch spot (outdoor sandwiches) and quite kid-friendly. (Games on the field and the guy made our kid a special lunch, too). Recommended.

More notes to come
(7/26/2017)
We had this wine at a restaurant in Niagara, Canada, and it went quite well with our pizza. The pizza were paired with the wines (and I can't now recall the pairings). Our waiter recommended the wine.
The wine had red and black fruit and some spice. It went well with our meal.
The wine is 50% cabernet franc, 20% merlot, 14% petite verdot, 8% malbec and 8% cabernet sauvignon. The petite verdot and malbec were prepared appassimento.
We visited the winery the next day to taste - because we had liked the wine the night before - and I was quite surprised they wouldn't pour us the wine at the winery, as well. (After all, it is the cheapest wine they make). I will copy these notes to the next day so I may include them with the other wines tasted. The winery wasn't listed on our Niagara map.
Anyway, we bought some of this at The Cellar Door, to extinguish our tasting fees. We plan to have some with Sue's homemade beef stew at Christmas.
The spec sheet says drink until 2021.

Back from our Canada trip and drive, we had this bottle solo. Great red fruit - raspberry, cherry, a touch of strawberry and good acidity. Probably better with foid (grilled pork sausages and veggies).
Great qpr for $16 on sale. Sad I only got 1 bottle
