Introduction

Unbeliavable Big bottles at Ingo's Birthday Clash. Only 4 bottles were drank blindly. Great menu from Jörg Müller.

Flight 1 (3 Notes)

Krug 96 is too young from Magnum
Felseneck 2009 for this vintage suprisingly fresh
Salon 1997 good for this year but too short in the finish

Flight 2 (2 Notes)

both bottle in weak performance

Flight 3 (1 Note)

Great balance

Flight 4 (2 Notes)

Strong flight but Schloßberg with 12% incredible powerful

Flight 5 (2 Notes)

Wittmann very concentrated and juicy. Much to come

Flight 6 (3 Notes)

Pettenthal beats G-Max

Flight 7 (2 Notes)

Flight 8 (2 Notes)

Not so strong as usual. it was 2015 not 16

Flight 9 (1 Note)

Flight 10 (1 Note)

100!

  • 1959 Château Mouton Rothschild 100 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

    Perfection
Drank it blind. Me and all the table guessed much younger. Only one young guy was right (ha had it yesterday from Magnum). So much fruit you can smell and taste the black currants. We were in the 80ies fruitwise. Leather, mint, tobacco leaves. Unbeliavable density. I had the taste a few hours later still in my palate and the concentrated fruit is outshining everything.
One of the most impressive wines in my life. Thanks Ingo for sharing

Flight 11 (3 Notes)

Phantastic Margaux, from MG too young

  • 1983 Château Margaux 96 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

    (10/21/2018)

    Magnum
Still very young but compared to the 1959 Mouton not the concentration and deepness. Graphite, leather, cigarbox and black currant. 96

  • 1985 Château Haut-Brion 94 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

    (10/22/2018)

Graphite, earth notes, saline, reluctant, tobacco leaves and subtle cassis. Black berries, dense but more mineral than fruit. 94

  • 1991 M. Chapoutier Ermitage Le Méal 94 Points

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Hermitage

    (10/21/2018)

    Magnum
Typical pepper and dark berry notes compared to the Bordeaux wines. Spicy and complex. Good acidity structure and muscular body. Tannins started to be integrated. 94

Flight 12 (1 Note)

Flight 13 (1 Note)

CReamy, dry and not typical Riesling, great vintage

Flight 14 (2 Notes)

Abtserde the winner even I guessed vice versa

Flight 15 (1 Note)

  • 2010 Etienne Sauzet Chassagne-Montrachet Les Encégnières 93 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Chassagne-Montrachet

    (10/22/2018)

    Magnum
Typical white Burgundy, I guessed 09 or 10 Burgundy Leflaive, still oak influenced but starts to integrate. Not annoying. Rice popcorn is very dominant. The acidity is fresh but could more pointed to give a stronger backbone for the roasted aromas. Pure in the finish. 93

Closing

Unforgettable Mouton 1959. One of the most faszinating red wines I've ever had. Very strong Breuer's Schloßberg 2009 from Double Magnum. Getting better and better with every sip. Maybe the third best Keller I've ever enjoyed was Pettenthal 2017 auction. Thanks Ingo for your generosity. Great weekend.
