Still full. Tannins slightly fury, but smoother than it was. Dark fruited. Rounds out a little with food. **1/2

Dark fruited. Smoky nose. Slightly briary. Dark and rounded and really quite smooth on the palate. Very promising, and indeed, drinkable. ****

Dark fruited nose. Richer and thicker. A sense of a tad more alcohol here. Full but actually quite smooth. Not gloopy. There’s a touch of freshness on the mid palate to finish. ***1/2

Very green and herbal on the nose. Similar on palate. A little strange, or corked? The cockiness becomes evident with more time.

Dusty, moderately dark fruited nose. Full. Quite plush. A fresh start to the finish but ends quite dry and grainy. Blocky. Needs food. ***

Nicely fresh, quite bright, red fruited nose. Opens to a touch of bovril and smoke. Very dense and dry though in the palate. I imagine chewing MDF might be similar. Nose has some interest but the palate really doesn’t do it for me. Mouth puckering. **

Decent nose. Dark red fruit, a touch of smoke and some positive lift. Again, smooth, relatively harmonious. A little lighter than the other wines in the flight. Similar character. ***

Dry, slightly dusty, powdery nose. Quite astringent on the attack. Maybe just too cool as the astringency moves from the attack to the finish and then lifts altogether, becoming a freshness. Intriguing. Quirky and fun. Maybe atypical but there some interest here and not an obvious vintage character. ****

Again, dark but not dusty. Quite smooth a touch of heat on the finish. Reasonable balance. Smooths our with air. The most ‘classic’ so far. Just a touch dry. ***(*)

More classic nose. Some blackcurrant. Linear. Dry and astringent on the finish. Dry. Not much fun. A shade better than a bottle in 2010, but only just. **1/2

Smooth, round, slightly dusty and somewhat lifeless on the nose. Slightly better on the attack, but again a warm, dusty vintage character. A bit more line. ***

This bottle improves on a couple of halves and another bottle in the last six months and confirms that we’re out of the difficult medicinal phase of the past few years. Bright gold. Sweet, slightly creamy marmelade fruit with a touch of coconut. Lip-smacking. Lovely. ****

Fresh SB nose. Quite fruity. Fuller with far more semillon evident on the palate. Nicely full with a fresh finish. Some fatness here. Really quite good. Might become a little tiring after a glass or so. ***
