A phenomenal line-up from one of my favorite estates in Bordeaux and all of wine worldwide.
Awesome nose of fragrant red berries. Feels light on its feet despite the ample fruit. Tannins still very present, needs time.

Much darker profile than the 2010. Softer. Easy drinking pleasant wine.

Beautiful wine. A big step up from the 2009 and 2010 with a few more years of bottle age. Dark blackberry fruit and olive tapenade. Chocolate and eucalyptus. Still pretty tannic today but no doubt those will melt away in the future. Very nice.

Still very tight and dense. This needs another 5-10 years+. Dark plums, eucalyptus and black olives. Great potential.

This was drinking beautifully tonight. Really fragrant dark fruit. Very fine tannins. Hard to put down.

A perennial favorite of mine, and this was a crowd pleaser tonight. I had originally scored this 100 points until I was confronted with the 1961 which took perfection to a new level! The 1990 has a spectacular nose of saddle leather and smoke. Layers of complexity go on and on on the ultra-long finish. This is impeccably balanced.

Another spectacular wine. As in previous head-to-head match-ups, I gave the slight edge to the 1990 but these are two incredible wines. The 1989 is slightly less exuberant with a little less body. Tannins had melted away. Lots of smoke and leather.

Drinking very nicely. Really juicy and soft with lots of saturated fruit. Very easy drinking and at a perfect plateau today.

Not nearly as tannic as many other 1986's. This shows a good firm structure to frame the dark and complex berry fruit. Noticeable fresh acidity. The finish was a bit hollow.

Firm tannins. The fruit is still very alive. Nice secondary notes. This is at a perfect drinking plateau today.

Very nice aristocratic structure. Layers of gorgeous complex dark fruit. Cigar box and leather. Very special. This had the "misfortune" of being tasted next to the 1961 which made it difficult to give the 82 the full attention it deserved.

One of two bottles was flawed as it was very non-expressive and dull. A sniff and tiny sip from the better bottle showed the great potential of this wine.

Spectacular!!! 100++. My new "desert island" wine. The fruit is still so alive at 58 years of age, it's incredible. The wine feels light, yet has incredible depth of fruit with awesome layers of nuance and complexity. The finish just keeps going and going. Smoke, red fruit, sweet rhubarb, and leather.

Served at the end of the night as a "surprise" ending. The switch from 1961 to 2015 was rather jolting but this young fruit bomb clearly has lots of potential. The fruit is incredibly dark and sweet. A big nose and firm tannins. This will undoubtedly age for decades and take on more nuance and complexity with time.
