A light, pale shiraz, but highly tannic and sharp, with cherry, plum, pepper, paprika. Maybe a bit too rough...

Portish, strong alcohol, definitely fortified. Very sweet, and nearly cloying, but well balanced with butterscotch and caramel chocolatey flavours. Pretty enjoyable

Quite sweet, yet still invitingly light. Clean nose of melon and mineral. Peaches, watermelon, salad leaves, clear spring water. Great answer of Lancaster to Vouvray!

Powerful nose, with flint, leaves, apricot, and also seen in the palate but to a lesser extent. Great finish though. Definitely needs more time

Serious intensity, all the way from nose, to palate, to finish. Key lime pie, lemon custard, buttered toast. Very very long finish of buttered Brioche... Fantastic!

Intense blackberry and leaf, and peppers and graphite. Comparatively lighter bodied compared to Cabernets that I had known, but the intensity is definitely there. A classic

Heavy tannins, but with a good dose of blackberry fruits, mint, graphite, cloves. Too young, but can really see the ageing potential

Fresh and fruity. Body was light for a Merlot, but could still hold its own. Quite dominated with red fruits and cherry

Tasted at some 30,000 feet above ground. Light bodied, pale stuff, but intensely flavoured with herbaceous leafy notes as well as the savoury breath of the sea. Pairs quite well with buttered vegetables, or otherwise would be quite neutral with white meats and fish
