Monthly tasting club "The Tasting Club" 2019-05; Bordeaux 2008 vs 2009

Everyone brought a bottle. I put in three. My notes are not blind.
In every flight there was (blind) a 2008 beside a 2009.

• 2009 Château D'Escurac 86 Points

  France, Bordeaux, Médoc

  In the bouquet cherries, red berries and a touch of oak. On the palate cherries, berries, a touch of oak, ok acidity and slightly drying tannin.

• 2008 Château Tour Massac 88 Points

  France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

  In the bouquet some rustic impression and soft red and dark berries. On the palate the same berries, sweet spices, oak and a lot of red fruit acidity. The wine shows some development and is ready now and the next year.

• 2008 Château Fourcas Dupré 87 Points

  France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Listrac-Médoc

  In the bouquet red berries, cassis, some oak and green impressions. On the palate cassis, berries, some vanilla, ok acidity and sticky tannin. Will probably improve over the next 2 – 3 years.

• 2009 Château Lilian Ladouys 90 Points

  France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Estèphe

  Red and dark berries, some herbs and spices, vanilla and oak in the bouquet. Same on the palate. The tannin still has a nice bite and there are some green impressions, Early maturity stage now.

• 2008 Château La Pointe 90 Points

  France, Bordeaux, Libournais, Pomerol

  In the bouquet red and dark berries, a bit rustic and some stable smells. On the palate a creamy, fairly full bodied wine with red fruits like strawberries, vanilla, good acidity and beautiful oak. Round tannin with still a soft bite. 89 – 90

  France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien

  Beautiful and somewhat rustic bouquet with cherries, red berries, vanilla and some stable smells. On the palate chocolate, dark berries, cherries, beautiful acidity, some vanilla an still youthful, sticky and round tannin. 89 – 90

  France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan

  Beautiful bouquet with dark berries, cassis, graphite, some smoke and beautiful oak. On the palate delicious and juicy dark berries, with pleasant oak and cedar impressions, good acidity, tannin, depth and length. In its very young maturity stage and already delicious.

• 2008 Château Beau-Séjour Bécot 91 Points

  France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru

  The bouquet is creamy, a bit rustic with herbs and spices and some vanilla. Same on the palate. Juicy dark berries, good acidity and length. Slightly drying tannin. Beautiful and still youthful wine.

  France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

  In the elegant bouquet dark berries, vanilla, laurel, animals and toast. Same on the palate, some graphite, creamy fruits, tobacco and coffee. Good acidity and round tannin. Well balanced wine. Youthful, but already a pleasure.

  France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux

  Creamy bouquet with red and dark berries, toast and some butter. On the palate lush with some chocolate, firm and somewhat drying tannin. The wine is still in its developing stage. 90 – 91 for now.
