Ripe and forward orchard fruit aromas. This has near Grand Cru concentration but still shows a bit backward with prominent tense acidity. Crisp and fresh. I think more time would add some needed flesh to the wine.

Intense minerality in the nose. This is rich with fat with loads of dense, concentrated fruit. Pure and bright. Still a bit primary and I think a few years of cellar time will add nuance, but so enjoyable already.

The aroma and palate are starting to show some maturing notes which add nice complexity and depth. But the palate is just a touch flat and seems to be losing its edge. One to pull from the cellar and start drinking. Not as youthful as another bottle ~6 months ago.

My favorite of the flight as this is showing a perfect combination of fresh and rich fruit with the emergence of complexity and layering. A wine at just the right moment in time. Such pure fruit and mineral expression. Gorgeous, long and bright finish.

A gorgeous nose that is lifted and bright with florals and crystalline white fruit. Rich and round on the palate with a precise and chiseled presence. Young, of course, but showing top pedigree.

The nose here is appealing and alluring with classic mature red Burgundy of maturing cherry, sous bois, herbs and spice. The palate had plush, ripe fruit that still had good brightness and freshness. Lots of earth and leather complexity. Delicious and still vibrant after 30 minutes in the glass.
Generously shared by Burgundy Al ... a wine that the domaine no longer has in bottle format in their library -- only magnums :-)

Killer, intense aromas of pure red cherry, licorice, herbs and spice. Great richness and persistence to the fruit despite firm structure. So layered already. Needs a decade to soften and integrate, but damn tasty already, especially with food. Upside from here.

Pretty and appealing aromas of sweet cherry and plum that are showing nice evolution and maturity. The palate is rich and delicious, and relative to the 2004 and 1996 in the same flight, the tannins are tame and integrated. Should have some slight upside but with air this is darn fine now.

Initially tight but really blossoms with 20 minutes in the glass (and following a 3-hour decant) -- very similar profile to the 04 Asili just more layering and emerging nuance. The palate is everything you want in Nebbiolo -- power with refinement and precision. Long, pure, pin point balance. This is close to perfection. Should hold for decades.

A full and complex array of red cherry and plum with intense spice and florals. The palate is round and layered with terrific power and refinement. The most ready bottle in the flight with decades of further cellaring potential.

Much like the 04 Asili in the prior flight -- this is so big and powerful, and just packed with potential. Full nose has red cherry, plum, licorice and herbs. The palate is rich and quite chewy still. Plenty of fruit and structure, just not yet in total harmony. Plenty of upside from here.

Full nose that is more mature with strawberry and emerging balsamic notes. Palate is full with round and fleshy fruit. Appealing and with a degree of completeness. Perhaps a bit of upside from here.

Wow, along with the 96 Asili this was my favorite of the Red Labels. Immense, bold aromas that are also layered and nuanced. Wow, so delicious with power and refinement. Plenty of structure that still needs to integrate, but this shows well with lots of air.

A stunning and spectacular nose that has the full range of classic N Rhone notes -- smoked meat, black pepper, olive and black fruit -- all with intensity and harmony. The palate is complex both in texture and flavor. Great concentration yet ethereal and long. Benchmark syrah. Should hold but this is a wine in peak form.

More brooding than the singing 1998. The nose is big with black fruit, meat and pepper - just not yet fully delineated and expressive. Rich and dense and packed with Syrah character. Needs another 5-10 years, I think. Upside from here.

Like the 1998, this is open, giving and harmonious. An enthralling nose of black fruit, meat, pepper and olive. Palate is similarly generous and complex. A touch shorter and less concentrated than the 1998, but absolutely no slouch.

Still quite primary and even showing some toasty oak. Rich and chewy right now with plenty of delicious black fruit. Not yet showing the benchmark N. Rhone complexity. Cellar for 5-10 years. Lots of upside from here.

This is a stunner of a Port. Chocolate, toffee and balsamico notes throughout. Impressive balance of freshness with the semi-sweet and ripe fruit. Long and refined finish.

Terrific vintage for Les Chetillons. So much rich and pure orchard fruit with a compelling interplay of density and energy. Drinking great right now.
