Second wine of the evening with first course. It's been a few years since last tasting of this vintage. Decanted through a Vinituri 2 hours prior to drinking. My experience with Beaux Freres wines is they need time to show - especially the older ones. No insight as to why...they just get more expressive with at least 2 hours
Medium dark ruby red, mild separation. Nose of red fruits, dried flowers and earth notes. Palate showing dark cherry, black raspberry, cherry cola, underbrush. Smooth, elegant texture. Medium weight and finish.
Great showing on this evening. From memory, the wine has moved to a darker fruit profile in the last 4 years - more earth and dark cherry. Aging nicely, still has time. Hard to say if it will improve much

Good excuse to check in on this one. With the main course...eggplant rollatini and chicken margherita from Gennaro's. Decanted 2 hours prior to drinking.
Dark garnet color, slight separation at the edges. Ripe and expressive nose showing red fruits, raspberry, tobacco, minerals. Palate is ripe and deep...showing black cherry, rhubarb, cedar(?). Still a firm and energetic wine at 15 years. Full body, long and layered finish.
Great showing on this evening. Classic Oakville profile. Was great pairing with our Italian dishes...although a steak might have been better for this wine...:) This still has a long arc ahead of it. Great stuff

Last red of the evening, tail end of entrees. Drank a bottle of this earlier this Summer with no notes. Really liked it, no notes at the time, wanted to try with some friends. In my cellar from the PNV purchase.
Dark garnet color. Nose showing dark fruits, violet, cocoa. Ripe and smooth palate showing blackberry, blue fruits, cedar. Great length through the mid palate. Full body, long and layered finish
Great wine from Thomas Rivers Brown. The 2012s from Napa are very accessible at this point - at least the ones in my cellar - worth opening these if you have them. Great now and should drink at this level for a while

Last bottle of the evening. The spirit moved us to crack a dessert wine. Nicely chilled, from a 375ml, PnP. Had with sorbet and cookies...the "apricot sandwich" cookies tuned out to be a killer combo with this.
Beautiful, deep gold/copper color. Nose of honey, orange marmalade and a signature must. Viscous palate showing creme brulee, apricot jam, honey, baked peaches, candied citrus/pineapple. Botrytis showing into the mid palate. Full body, long finish.
Really great showing on this evening. Have not had this wine in years - almost a forgotten bottle - glad a I still have them. Aging beautifully as they approach their 20th year with a long drinking arc ahead. big hit with our guests!

2018 Domaine Tempier Bandol Rosé
France, Provence, Bandol
Had this one as a first wine/aperitif with cheeses. Chilled/PnP.
Prior notes:"Pale orange pink color.Floral driven nose, some orange zest and mineral. Lithe red fruit, strawberry, faint orange/citrus. Nicely acidic, but smooth. Nice red fruits through mid palate. Long finish by Rose standards."
Not much to add on tasting notes - great as an aperitif for Summer dinners. Our guests loved this, they had not had a rose that drinks at this level.
