Introduction

K had an NCT zoom so after dinner I had some Courtyard Dairy cheese and watched bake off. And in what way is *quiche* an 80s dish? Utter nonsense.

Flight 1 (3 Notes)

  • 2017 Comte Armand Bourgogne-Aligoté

    France, Burgundy, Bourgogne-Aligoté

Pale colour. On the nose -a little citrus, with a mildly ecclesiastical whiff. I was expecting a very bracing acidity but it was decently balanced - if not terribly complex. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but a jolly nice drop.

  • 2010 Château Villa Bel-Air

    France, Bordeaux, Graves

Last half from a case bought EP. Colour half way from purple to bricked. On the nose - vanilla, quite punchy. On the palate - oak clearly very evident but decent fruit underneath and well balanced. Made me feel homesick for California - I think that on a normal evening I would find this a bit technicolor for my tastes, but somehow tonight it played well. Gave a huge amount of enjoyment watching Bake Off and eating cheese, so what more can you ask.

  • NV Williams & Humbert Collection Oloroso Dry 12 Years Old

    Spain, Andalucía, Jerez-Xérès-Sherry

Still very much a sherry noob...nutty, tangy - lots of zip and freshness, with just a little bit of sweetness on the end. More-ish (which at 20% ABV is dangerous) and screaming value at under £9 for a half.
