D5 DipWSET FORTIFIED WINES with Adam Chase and Matt Gaughan; 4/9/2022-4/10/2022 (St Francis' Yacht Club San Francisco): A: Pale amber N: Medium (+) nose of warm walnuts, caramel, toffee, chocolate, coffee, dried citrus and INSTRUCTOR NOTES LEATHER. P: Dry, medium acidity, medium alcohol, medium (+) body, intensity and finish Very Good Quality wine which would improve with greater balance of the alcohol which dominates the finish too much and so knocks the wine off kilter.

Good colour and a rich, complex nose. Dry but not bone dry. The wine shows nutty character full of ‘Christmas cake’ character as noted by others. Lovely stuff but much too easy to drink. 90+

Thursday evening dinner and bake off (Front room): Still very much a sherry noob...nutty, tangy - lots of zip and freshness, with just a little bit of sweetness on the end. More-ish (which at 20% ABV is dangerous) and screaming value at under £9 for a half.

May 2021 “Running” Club Outdoor Vintage Pairs Evening (Outside by the firepit in Icy West London): Nutty, tangy, lots of zip. Really enjoyable. Always think “why don’t I drink more sherry” when I try this - especially at £8.25 / 375ml from Waitrose. Very well received by the group. Great start to the evening.
