Flight 1 (2 Notes)

Flight 2 (4 Notes)

  • 2002 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Echezeaux 95 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru

02/10 DRC Ech + GE. The most enchanting nose of the flight with intense and alluring black cherry, infused with stems, Vosne spice and emerging earth tones. The palate is giving, fully approachable with loosening structure. This is at peak, and while it should hold, no upside from here.

  • 2010 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Echezeaux 92 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Echezeaux Grand Cru

02/10 DRC Ech + GE. Appears to be in an awkward phase with a more reserved aroma and less delineation on the palate. Stuffed with concentrated and delicious spicy cherry, but lacking that extra gear right now. Some debate as to whether this will improve (I think so) or it’s just the nature of the wine.

  • 2002 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Grands-Echezeaux 97 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru

02/10 DRC Ech + GE. Every bit as good as the 02 Ech and then some. Intense and layered aromas that have so much spice, stem and black cherry. Rich and concentrated with plenty of complex evolution. Long finish.

  • 2010 Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Grands-Echezeaux 98 Points

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Grands-Echezeaux Grand Cru

02/10 DRC Ech + GE. 2010 Grands Echezeaux is the king of the heap in this flight. Not yet at peak with more to give, but already so damn delicious and complex. Stunning concentration and depth. Deliciously powerful and long. Upside from here.
