France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
In 15/16/17/18 vertical, all opened 45 minutes before serving. Red and black cherry start-to-finish, coming across as ripe and dense, but sternly tense and firm in the middle. The result is an inaccessible core right now, but so much here, and as usual this is wine that needs a decade+ in the cellar. 91+ point potential, 2028-2050. Very similar to the 2018.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
In 15/16/17/18 vertical, all opened 45 minutes before serving. Less ripe, dense and powerful than 2015 or 2018, but showing a more varied and complex array of both black and red fruits. Aromatically enticing, but also firm on palate. My favorite of the vertical to have in the cellar, but still requiring plenty of quiet time in the cellar, best 2030-2050.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
In 15/16/17/18 vertical, all opened 45 minutes before serving. Far more red vs black cherry with meat and earth hints, very bright and textural sharp from the middle through long-ish finish. My favorite of the vertical to enjoy now through the next decade, but this too will reward patience until at least 2025.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Morey St. Denis 1er Cru
In 15/16/17/18 vertical, all opened 45 minutes before serving. Ripe aromatic start, more meaty on palate, but clearly the most ripe of the vertical, but also very bright, texturally complex and balanced. Complex and enticing nose, less forthcoming on palate but also clearly lots here, just behind fairly firm tannins for now. Similar to the 2015 in many ways. Better 2028-2050+.
