Deep yellow-very fine color for its age. It took a bit of time to sort out the nose-is this light cork or mature Riesling? With air, happily the latter. Medium weight, completely dry, lemon and faint peach, superb acidity and soil to burn. An elegant, classic version of Clos Ste. Hune, neither as flashy as the 1989 nor as deep and intense as the 1990.
Full yellow color. A touch of the exotic on the nose and (although stupid to say) you can almost smell the slate here. Off dry, hard to characterize fruit, excellent acidity, and just an incredible sense of licking stone that carries through to the long finish. A great experience.
Garnet center with lightening. Resiny, green aromatics. Light to medium body, some wood present. Plum and light cherry with a strong herbal component and a bit of sap. Fully resolved, not as seductive or delicious as it has been on the 2 most recent occasions over the past several years.
*Golden orange color. Peach and apricot scent without botrytis or for that matter, petrol. Sweet but not terribly so. Marvelous feel and remarkably good acidity for this very warm vintage. Even if it is not the most detailed or fine Prum wine, it is a complete miracle at age 45.
*Initially mistakenly noted as the Wehlener Sonnenuhr Goldkapsel from the same vintage

1999 Joh. Jos. Prüm Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Spätlese

Deep yellow. Peach aromas. Quite rich for a JJ Spatlese from this era, but outstanding, refreshing acidity.
