the nose was sooo fragrant. Obviously very much oxidized so there's that marmalade both on the nose and the palate. The palate was ripe but the acidity was still there. Got some lemon, Chinese angelica, caramelized sugar, straw, a little flint and petrol, and also vanilla on the nose. Drinking really well.

Color is medium golden. On the nose: tropical fruits, lemon, paraffin, minerals and a bit of honeysuckle. On the palate: apricot, honey, paraffin and lemon. Great density and acidity. First time I’ve had a Riesling with this much age. This is wonderfully complex and integrated. It is really hitting the mark for me. I love it.

Thai Dinner with Some Old Riesling (San Francisco): Deep yellow-very fine color for its age. It took a bit of time to sort out the nose-is this light cork or mature Riesling? With air, happily the latter. Medium weight, completely dry, lemon and faint peach, superb acidity and soil to burn. An elegant, classic version of Clos Ste. Hune, neither as flashy as the 1989 nor as deep and intense as the 1990.
Nice nose on exotic fruits. The palate remains fresh and fruity, like the nose, the attack is very pleasant, round with a tight juice and a beautiful acid frame. At this point we tell ourselves that everything is there to have a beautiful wine even if the complexity is not enormous and the whole is very young. However, the wine does not confirm this beautiful impression with a rather ordinary finish and just correct length. That's fine, nothing more. Definitely not worth the price in second hand.

From impeccable provenance and what I’d consider age appropriate maturity, it nevertheless comes off a bit heavy/ponderous and simple. Lots of the petrol and aged/bruised apple

Amazing wine the proves that Clos Saint Hune can become extremely rewarding when left to rest for many years. Dark golden color, very mature and intense. Medium dry, no more gun flint nose, round yet with a great acidity to balance. Medium to long finish.

Much lighter in color than the the 90s wines in the same flight. Drinks so young its almost suspicious. Primary in nature. Lots of lemon, petrol and yellow fruits. Really hard to believe this is an 88 but provenance of the bottle was impeccable. Really strong effort.

Clos Ste Hune vertical 83-09 with Anne Trimbach. Historic vineyard of only 1,67 ha in the village of Hunawihr in central Alsace. Limestone soil, cool southeast position with morning sun. *MAGNIFICENT" vintage. Amazing nose, big difference from other vintages, again some grapefruit and blood oranges like in the younger vintages. Fresh, complex, lovely fruit, nice acidity. The energy in this wine is stunning, 29 years old, amazing aging potential. My superfavorite tonight, would have given 6 ⭐️ if possible.

Parisian Escape; 3/10/2017-3/12/2017: Perfect Trimbach Riesling nose, petrol and candied ginger botrytis. Apricot. Toasty, caramel, peach. The nose was sweet and floral but the palate was completely dry. Delicious drinking.

Austrinken..

Tasted blind, this wine had a deep yellow center with clear rims. The nose featured crystallized lemons, creme brulee, and crushed apples.
In the mouth, this wine was quite subtle and fine-grained. But make no mistake, this is an excellent bottle for those with the patience to examine the nuances of this elixir. It tasted more like a chardonnay than a Riesling. Not surprisingly, this wine gets better after about an hour or two of decanter time.
I see no reason to wait. Drink up and enjoy!

Old golden color, kerosene on the nose, quite broad First impression on the palate: More kerosene, even woody, plenty of what the Germans call "Firne" At first just borderline, then - with as the wine breathes - the stink disappears and the wine gets better and gains complexity. At the end it is ok without being remarkable Drink up - this will not get better; it just doe not have enough acidity to prop it up.

Wonderful "old Gold" color; nose rather faint at first: some kerosene, then some "old Riesling" smell; refined, frail, yet elegant like an elderly Marchesa On the palate: aged Riesling what the Germans call "Firne", very harmonious, everything well integrated. Drink up within the next 3-5 years.

Drunk at the Greenhouse in London on 24/5/10. Mid gold. Looks quite weighty for a CSH. A lovely mature riesling nose. Some honey, petrol and a bit of spice (star anise?). Palate is quite big but with a good acid backbone. Not a lean and mean CSH by any stretch. Probably on its plateau of maturity, it has enough richness and heft to last for a long time. Excellent.

cork was a disaster, but the wine was fine. Not as powerful as I expected, only minimal petrol, but fresh and still plenty of acid. A good, but not great bottle of this wine.

Some grip and petrol. Very dry. Incredible for its age. So young. Smooth and delicate. Medium bodied. Shared by SW at Nadodi
