Smoky, bacon, dried florals and black fruit has lots of depth and intensity. Rich and pure fruit matched still quite chewy structure. Youthful, transparent Cote Rotie.
Distinctly sauvage nose with attractive meaty funk with spice and florals. The palate is brooding with rich, structured fruit. Again very animale and sauvage meaty, funk-filled fruit. Served blind and guessed Levet given the house style. Lots of upside starting in ~10 years.
Traditional Cote Rotie that is fully at peak. Attractive low levels of band-aid funk that are well integrated with meat, pepper and spice notes. Texturally silky with fine, integrated structure. Lots of fun, complex notes of fig, smoke and game. Outstanding.
Youthful pure, fresh black fruit with florals on the nose. Pure, bright, juicy fruit on the palate with lots of florals. Still quite young and while fun this is not yet showing meaty/peppery complexity that should emerge in 3-5 years. Upside from here.
A modest but classic nose of meaty, smoky black fruits with florals. Palate is a bit four-square with black fruit that has subtle amounts of pepper and meat. Seems this is running out of steam.
The fruit is very ripe on the nose with incense and minty herbs. The palate is also ripe and glossy. Spice and woodsy notes. Odd showing. Others thought the wine suffered from VA. 86-88 point showing.
Side-by-side with the 2009 base Cote Rotie and this showed more complex and ready. Very traditional in style -- olives, pepper, bacon on the generous nose. Palate is youthful and rich, but already showing nice character and complexity. Plenty of stuffing and balance to age. Upside from here as this continues to gain nuance and depth.
Side-by-side with the more ready 2012 Les Grandes Places. A more brooding wine with aromas of rich black fruit, blood and pepper. Powerful and long on the palate with lots of stuffing that needs more time to come together. Upside from here.
Forward, large-scale nose of rich meat- and spice-filled aromas. Intense and sauvage. Dense and powerful fruit with a nice combination of precision and breadth. Long with nice complexity.
