  • 2018 Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Brücke Riesling Großes Gewächs Auction 96 Points

    Germany, Nahe

Floral and creamy nose. Flavors are packed with oysters and salt-water and lots of minerals. It is extremely "pure" and clean but almost no fruit.
A touch of green and immature gooseberries. A wild and insane acidity balances out a very impressive and structured wine. Save this for 30-50 years to get it to open up :-)
In total, a very unique and special wine. 95-96p

  • 1999 Miani Friuli Merlot

    Italy, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Friuli

Glue and sweet cassis fruit combined with an almond touch. High acidity and some black pepper with some barnyard/manure.
The alcohol seems a bit high but overall, it has a nice balance and depth. Very sexy wine.

  • 2001 Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino Cerretalto 95 Points

Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino

Lots of sweet blackberry fruit and licorice. The fruit is pure and clean but the tannins are harsh and rough leaving the impression of a compact and dense wine.
There is a strange note of cabbage in the nose but not in a way that indicates that there is something wrong with the bottle. I have detected this many time with wines that were overripe in their youth. There is nothing wrong with the flavors and overall the wine showed what it could. It does seem a bit unbalanced at the moment.
