Cork broke, but got it out with a corkscrew. Still a bit of bubble to it. Amber color, loads of caramel, nuttiness and a slight Sherry note. There’s some sweet pear still, and even a little acid on the finish, but this seems to be a textbook example of well aged good vintage champagne.
color darker than the 82 Dom it followed. Loads of caramel, some coffee. It lightens up on the back of the tongue if you let it sit, showing some brighter lemon pound cake notes. Exceeded expectations.
decanted off sediment and drank immediately. Showing some bricking on the edges, but less than 40 years should show. Otherwise the color is relatively light. Loads of tart fruit left, sour strawberry, underpinned with graphite and some spice. Another impressive Ravenswood cellar bottle:
decanted off sediment and given an hour and a half. Color looks nowhere near its age. The aromas are insanely strong from pop and pour, just super full of fruit. Loads of red and black fruit, definitely reads old Bordeaux. This is absolutely incredible, tasting 20ish years old, loads of life ahead. Dunn Howell is crazy with age.
decanted off sediment an hour before serving. Very very good. William Kelley had told me this is 10 years from peak and I agree. Amazing aged Bordeaux flavors, red fruits, earth, but the acid on the finish is still strong. 5+ more years and wow.
decanted off sediment and pop and pour. Good color, sour cherry, currant, classic aged cab, but showing less than 40. Pales compared to the Dunn and Bordeaux? But still pales in comparison. Even though, Another surprisingly good bottle.

1982 Château Potensac
France, Bordeaux, Médoc
no expectations. Clearly past peak but surprisingly drinkable, some fruit, loads of tertiaries, not a drinker, but late night a good 9th 82 bottle.
