Blind. Dark color. Plum and black fruit notes give way to sour cherry, red plum, cedar and spice. Has some tannin to integrate. Plum, dark fruit and spice tones on the palate. Lengthy finish.
Still very youthful and needing time. I did not pick this out as our Pavots. This had been double decanted a couple of hours before the flight was poured- could have used a few hours in a decanter, but better to hold a while yet. 2025+.

Double blind. Aromas of incense, dark berry fruit and chocolate. Full-bodied with a bit of a tannic bite. Flavors of black currant, plum and chocolate linger on the finish. Excellent. Easy to pick out as Napa cab sauv. (R&D)

Blind. Plum, violet and black fruit notes to start. Turns brighter and a bit jammy-in a good way- with air, adding raspberry liqueur, boysenberry and blackberry elements- delightful ripe jammy fruit. Well-balanced, with youthful tannin and flavors of black currants and raspberry fruit. Long finish. 93-94 pts.
Double decanted two+ hours before the flight was poured. Young; needs time or a healthy decant.

Double blind. Lighter color. A bit dirty with bouillon and red berry fruit underneath. Has a weird onion soup mix flavor and is overly sour and acidic. Not a representative bottle. (J&J)

Double blind, and immediately my favorite in this flight. Opens with aromas of black fruit and violets, rather pretty. Incense, black fruit and plum notes as this opens further in the glass, adding a subtle earthy note as well. Medium-bodied, with flavors of black currants, mineral and earth. Balanced, with nice underlying acidity and a long finish. Gorgeous. Guessed Bordeaux. (R&D)

Double blind. Notes of kirsch, plum and black fruit. Fine, but slightly firm tannins and flavors of chocolate and black fruit. Balanced; long finish. Guessed 2012 Napa cab sauv. (R&R)

Double blind. Lightest color in the flight. Opens with a sweet cherry note and underlying earthiness. Opens in the glass with cherry, rhubarb, perfumed florals, mineral and almost a wild, feral quality. Full-bodied woth softened tannin and flavors of cherry, mineral, forest floor, rose water and red berry fruit. Good concentration, with a long finish. I was the only one thinking Burgundy, which surprised me as I didn’t think it could be anything else. Plenty of life ahead. (R&R)

Double blind. Dark color opening with black fruit and bouillon notes. Plummy and ripe on the palate, finishing with good length. There’s a hint of bouillon on the palate as well. Very good but I find the bouillon notes a little distracting. (R&D)

Double blind. Very similar to the preceding wine with black fruit and ripe plummy qualities. Firm, fine grained tannins support abundant black fruit. Excellent. (R&D)

Double blind. Currant, black fruit, cedar, leather and herb elements. Balanced and somewhat lush- very enjoyable. (J&J)

Double blind. Dark color with aromas of blackberry liqueur, cassis and brown sugar. Firm yet dine tannins on the palate, with flavors of plum and cassis, brown sugar and chocolate. Lingering finish. Easy to pick out as a Napa cab. None of the bouillon notes found in a prior example, and much more enjoyable in this big, ripe style.

2008 Jean-Marc Brocard Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos 92 Points
France, Burgundy, Chablis, Chablis Grand Cru
Double blind. Somewhat dark in color…has some age. Aroma of note, apple and something a bit floral, along with a hint of butterscotch. Flavors of Orchard fruit dominate the palate along with a hint of butterscotch; good acidity. There’s something pleasantly funky in there too. Guessed 2010 Chassagne. (R&D)

2016 Peter Michael Chardonnay Ma Belle-Fille 92 Points
USA, California, Sonoma County, Knights Valley
Double blind. Notes of toasted oak, orchard fruit and lemon. Tropical frit tones dominate the palate- coconut- along with lemon and pear. Finishes with good length. Guessed domestic, but didn’t pick it out as a Peter Michael. (R&D)
