Introduction

Clear wine of the night was the 2010 St. Cosme Cote Rotie with all the votes. Very fun event with my brother in town.

Flight 1 (5 Notes)

  • 2014 Château de la Gardine Châteauneuf-du-Pape Tradition 93 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Wow first tasting note on this wine. Very nice and Classic CDP. Mild funk, raspberries, floral, red currants and floral notes. Fresh and still has plenty of life ahead. Excellent value.

  • 2016 Roger Sabon Châteauneuf-du-Pape Reserve 93 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Another great showing and most intensity of the 5 bottles tasted tonight. Funk, spice, pepper and Garrigue. Got better throughout the night and was softer in a good way later. Just really nice pepper notes on the finish. Will age through 2030 comfortably. Great value. 93+ points

  • 2016 Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Crau 92 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

2 hour decant. My least favorite of the night but not by much. Just a bit too much earth for me and spice. Sour cherry, spice and red currants. As some have said too young and I agree. Will say this will need to be consumed after 2025 to show better.

  • 2010 Saint Cosme Côte-Rôtie 95 Points

    France, Rhône, Northern Rhône, Côte-Rôtie

Hello! This was decanted 2 hours prior to the tasting and everyone's wine of the night. Tasted out of a Riedel Syrah Glass which makes an off the charts difference. Bacon, blueberries, minerals, earth, white pepper and a nice rustic edge. This is in a perfect place and consume now or hold for a few years. Wine of the Year candidate.

  • 2019 Kirkland Signature Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée du Terroir Des Papes 86 Points

    France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape

This is a really good CDR but not much more. Others liked it more than me. Dust, red fruits and mild spice. Some heat which I don't like. Not a wine I would buy even at $20 as St. Cosme CDR is much better.
