Walk around tasting. Young, bright, fresh with good+ depth. Lots here, while easy to enjoy now. My first time trying this wine since they went to the numbering system for each cuvee, and I was impressed, especially given this being from the allegedly problematic 2017 vintage.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru
Walk around tasting. Broad array of apple aromas and flavors with very good depth, some maturing hints faintly starting to emerge and add another layer of fun. Very good through the next 5 years.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru
Walk around tasting. Mature mature apple and baked apple, but easily bright enough with very impressive concentration. Not quite as exciting as the same wine from magnum a few months ago.
Walk around tasting. What a treat. Apparently just bottled in 2019. Rich and powerful with a floral start, showing lemon curd and a sense of poached lobster. Great length with a chiseled, minerally finish.
Walk around tasting. Fresh and vibrant for its age with good richness and a wonderful sense of balance. Easily enough structure in the near background. Much better today vs when last tasted... at this same event three years ago!
Walk around tasting. Medium weight but so much flavor, spice, and cooked meat provide so much complexity in the lighter style of a Bourgogne. The vintage complexity is front-and-center here. Great for its level. Probably best to enjoy by 2025.
Walk around tasting. Surprisingly lighter and simpler than I would ever expect from the vintage. Good enough fruit, but not holding up to the very pronounced structure. My first time tasting since en Primeur in 2006. An off bottle?
France, Bordeaux, Libournais, St. Émilion Grand Cru
Walk around tasting. Very high octane, this was too ripe and losing steam as the fruit matures. This was never a personal favorite of mine from this great vintage, but I like it much more when younger. Most 2000s are getting hitting their stride.
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Walk around tasting. Clearly ultra ripe, I expected not to like this wine, but it has such wonderful balance and concentration that I found it so intriguing and exciting, even if not the style of wine I'd want to drink on most days.
Walk around tasting. From 6L that had been opened and decanted several hours earlier. A real treat with intense black plum and currant, showing cassis, eucalyptus, and mint, with faint black truffle notes. Very big, very balanced. So enjoyable, thanks, Bob!
Walk around tasting. Almost identical to when last tasted at this same event in 2019, just slightly less sweet. Floral start with spice, peach and tropical hints. Still moderately sweet but also so bright, making this a charming food wine. Good+ length.

Walk around tasting. Some people enjoyed this, but I thought it slightly stewed and muddy, wondering if heat damaged.

Walk around tasting. A modern style wine that comes across as varietally indistinct. and lacking energy as the fruit fades. Past its peak.
