  Sage, stone fruit, a bit reductive. Elegant, already accesible wine. Tasted against Dönnhoff Dellchen 2021.

• 2021 Dönnhoff Dellchen Riesling Großes Gewächs 95 Points

  Germany, Nahe

  Interesting nose with white flowers, peach, wasabi, spices. Palate is very complex and moves from laser-sharp acidity to a rich creaminess. Finish is very long. A real joy. Wine is highly discussed in 2022 for 100PP it received. It is excellent, but time will tell if its a monument.

  Salty, aniseed, very lean, elegant wine. Some lactic notes, wine is grippy and juicy. Will benefit from more bottle age. Currently in puberty.

  smoke, smoked meat on the nose, intermingled with blueberry. Coolish nose. Palate is excellent with a saline animating character and light tannins to give this some grip. Excellent wine.

• 2016 Schäfer-Fröhlich Bockenauer Felseneck Riesling Großes Gewächs 97 Points

  Germany, Nahe

  Reductive nose, a bit yuzu and plum, rather dark in a sense of colour. Palate is beautiful. Already perfectly integrated acidity, saline finish. Wine is vibrant, energetic and is still a puppy.

  Germany, Mosel Saar Ruwer

  Sweetish nose, almost chocolaty, with lychee notes. Palate is very dense, and at the same time floating. Has a bit of a burning alcoholic character. Strong wine, will become more slender with time.

  Brief note. Seemed a bit flat, might be bottle variation. Acidity seemed volatile. Still has sweet coconut and smokey notes, enjoyable.

  Baked apple, salty caramel, cinnamon, wine has developed nicely and is in a great spot now. Acidity is present, but nicely buffered. Great wine.

  More vegetal nose, with cucumber, still lemon zesty and mineral, but quite different to other Dellchen vintages. This will be very pleasant when served with food, e.g. salmon with wasabi, sushi and so on.

  Popcorn nose. very mineral, almost volcanic, smoky. Wine is open and well balanced, drinking very well now.

  Salty caramel, bit lactic nose with lemon. Palate is nicely interwoven with an incredible aftertaste.
