Opened an hour in advance. A deep gold to the eye and showing far, far more evolution than when I last enjoyed this just over a year ago. The same is true aromatically with notes of honey joining petroleum, peach, nectarine, a hint of honeysuckle, and some citrus blossom. The palate is savoury with soft green herbs and a touch of phenolic bitterness reminiscent of grapefruit pith. This is textured and oily with the oily quality persisting on the finish. Superb as Donnhoff always is.

Drank over four days. Pours a brilliant pale gold. Explosive aromas of lime blossom, peach, apricot, a hint of petroleum, and a touch of ground white pepper upon opening. The nose became a little more subdued with each passing day - developing a delightful lemon curd characteristic I often associate with white Burgundy - yet the palate provided real power throughout coupled with a pure fruit profile of peach and nectarine. It’s ever so slightly oily, there’s impressive density and concentration, bright, racy acidity, and the nerve, tension, and energy I associate with this house.

Just starting to hit the drinking window. So well put together. Slate, petroleum, some apples. Good stuff

Dönnhoff Dellchen Vertical Tasting (Frankfurt): Brief note. Smokey, vulcanic nose. Palate a bit lactic, acidity is demanding. Rather cool vintage.
