D/g 20/10/16. Lemon, nutty, orange, apple and pear on the nose. Palate is decidedly dry and has acid bite, but there is good texture and a slight touch of oxidative twang to give it character. True to style. A splash left the next day had opened up a bit but retained a very similar profile.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Pernand-Vergelesses
Blind. Orange, toast, mint and white florals on the lifted and fragrant nose. Oak is well integrated, playing well about the medium bodied fruit. Balanced and drinking really well already.
Blind. Smoke, slate, slight herb note. Palate is a mix of that herb note along with sweet fruit. Flavour trails off at the finish, so feels a touch short. Interesting regardless.
Smoke, orange, lemon and a touch of kerosene on the nose. Good body, has energy and verve, still feeling fresh even with the edges rounding out. Medium length with very good balance. Impressed the table for drinking now.
Australia, South Australia, Limestone Coast, Coonawarra
Blind. Light coloured. Clearly Cabernet - cherry, blackberry, earth and a minty streak with some leather in the background showing the age. Fresh on the palate, lots of texture and bright red fruits. Seamless and the best bottle of 91 John Riddoch I've had.
Blind. Licorice, graphite, strawberry and blackberry. Dense and coiled on the palate, taking time in the glass to open up. Has depth but the youthfulness is at the fore for now. Last tried this 10 years ago and it has barely budged - more time is recommended!

375ml. Honey, pear and apricot aromatics. Refreshing and vibrant palate, light on its feet with the sweetness and driving acid in harmony. Delicious.
