We got invited to a Shabbat dinner with "a curry fish dish, a garlic tart, and a squash dish". Plus a fruit and nut plate for dessert. I was pleasantly surprised to learn the fish was salmon and the tart had mushrooms and goat's cheese, which made the pairings look better!
2021 d'Arenberg The Hermit Crab 91 Points
Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale
A delicious Viognier wine. Textbook. Lovely fruit flavors: apple, pear, honeysuckle. Lots of lively acidity and some good minerals. A great pairing with the roast squash and salmon, red curry (Thai-style, with coconut milk and not too spicy). Also good on its own and with the nutty cheese.
Great QPR. Drink now or age

2021 Sea Slopes Fort Ross Winery Pinot Noir 90 Points
USA, California, Sonoma County, Fort Ross - Seaview
Red berry, cherry, strawberry, rose petals, minerals and some spice on the finish.
Such a food-friendly wine. Paired with everything on the table: mushroom and goat's cheese quiche (especially great with this!) and the Thai-style salmon red curry (with coconut milk).
This will be even better with a year or 2 of bottle age, but good now. A local Bottle King (of Princeton) wine.

2016 Château Suduiraut Lions de Suduiraut 92 Points
France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
This drank quite well. Notes of almond, apple, pear, honey and lots of apricot. This will be really great in 5 years (will there be any left?!) -- but good now, too.
I brought it to pair with the fruit plate (including oranges, apricots and almonds) and was quite surprised to find a delicious chocolate cake, too - which did NOT pair at all.
How nice our friends like sweet wines! Have to remember that :)
There were no Sauterne glasses so we drank these in champagne glasses which show the wine quite well.
