Tasting Group May 2008 Meeting - White wines with pizza

For this meeting we tasted five whites and paired them with pizza and baked ziti. They were ordered and tasted blind. We opened the bottles about an hour before tasting and left them on the counter to warm from refrigerator temperature. • 2006 Viña Nora Albariño Rías Baixas Nora 86 Points

  Spain, Galicia, Rías Baixas

  Clean nose, not much else. Light palate, refreshing. Some citrus and a little grass on the finish. Good, pleasant, but not striking. (Original score: B)

  Somewhat awkward, powerful nose. Definite acidity on the palate. When pairing with pizza, that acidity goes away and some weird flavors come out. (Original score: B-)
