Bottled May 2013, disgorged January 2019. I've not been a huge fan of Agrapart, but this bottle really hit the spot. I really enjoyed the balance of freshness and weight here, and perhaps because of the level of this wine, this just doesn't feel as bracing and lean as most Agrapart. Impressive.
#28-18, 13% abv. Judging from my note from four years ago, I've become a lot more tolerant of dry riesling. This has matured nicely, with good breadth on the palate, while maintaining good lightness. Moderate acids and a delicate touch to the fruit that reminds me of the sweet Dönnhoffs made by Helmut. A slight green herb streak, and some tart tropical fruit.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Saint-Aubin 1er Cru
Absolutely stunning stuff, and it's crazy to think that this wine was $30 once upon a time. Age has been very kind to this, the reduction has moderated and even though there's still a bit of reduction, it's really dialled in and precise, not to mention the brilliant laser-focussed acidity too. Precise and drinking superbly well right now.
A little stinky and bretty, but otherwise very much a clean version of this wine. I like the notes of red berries and hints of black stone fruit here. Slightly volatile (what Italian wine isn't?) but not overwhelmingly so. Surprisingly far more drinkable than most of the other bottles of Pepe I've had (I have to admit I don't understand the wines though).
It's exactly what you would expect. Kind of a purply, highly floral, lifted, young syrah. Very drinkable, not too complex, and showing distinct youthful syrah characteristics.
