One of those ill-advised bottle opens when you've already had too much to drink. No real notes, just a little regret that I wasn't picking up any subtlety at this point. Drinking really well, but probably not worth the $$$? Again hard to tell bc drunk

This was really good. Super-chalky and piercing and possessing fine complexity. There's citrus and white flowers and some aniseed spice. It is direct and bone dry and finishes with a liberal sprinkling of salt. It is linear but there's no shortage of richness.

Dinner at Dear Margaret (Chicago, IL): Bottled May 2013, disgorged January 2019. I've not been a huge fan of Agrapart, but this bottle really hit the spot. I really enjoyed the balance of freshness and weight here, and perhaps because of the level of this wine, this just doesn't feel as bracing and lean as most Agrapart. Impressive.

Citrus driven nose with notes of minerals, lemon, bright fruit, a bit of brioche, and dried flowers. The mousse is fine and the palate is well balanced and deep with more lemon notes, chalk, and a nice saline quality. Long finish. Great wine that still tastes quite young and will only get better with time. Next to the Avizoise, this was maybe a bit more backwards and less rewarding, but overall showing more promise. 95+

There is a little bit more richness/ripeness than usual for Venus which makes it more easy-going than typical. Very nice, well-balanced and drinking well.

Venus seems to take a long time to come around, but it’s pretty thrilling stuff. We recently had a bottle of this served right after popping and this example, for comparison, was decanted 2 hours. I found the nose reasonably quiet, but the palate is simply bursting with life - Meyer lemon, cream, brioche, lime, mineral. Such energy and length. I become more of an Agrapart fan with every bottle. Probably best to hold the 12 Venus longer.
Nose: The nose is a bit taught and wound up at first, but with air it peels back into gorgeous tones of red apples, pears, white fruits, meyer lemons, white flowers, crushed rocks, dough, vanilla beans, mint, flint notes, and some pastry notes. There is a lot of depth and poise as this seems to really turn it up another notch from the Mineral.
Taste: The feel is Medium bodied with tart and sharp, high acidity. The acidity has a lot of cut and a bit of sting at the moment. The feel is silky and refined with deep tones of red apples, pears, meyer lemons, white flowers, flint, crushed rocks, vanilla beans, mint, dough, and pastry notes.
Overall: This is clearly extremely young and needs the better part of 5+ years to really come into itself. This was a real treat to try right now and at least get a feel for where it can go.

This is quite rich and a bit dull and undeveloped right now. The nose is quiet. Lacking some of the definition I usually find but I think just needs time to develop.

Dinner at Wazwan Supper Club (Chicago, IL): Not generally a big fan of Agrapart, but I have to say this was a really nice bottle. Good balance of the green and high-acid elements, and richness from the vintage on the palate. Bright and zippy, but not the kind of empty acidity from lesser low dosage champagnes.

Blindly, first time Thought it is blend 50-50. Austere, reluctant, discreet fruit, citrus and chalk dominated. better than most of the Venus I had in this young stage. 92(94)
