Served blind. Purple colour, hint of brett on the nose. Lots of fruit there - someone said peanut skins, which I got. Jolly decent stuff, and by all accounts very fairly priced.

Served blind. Does it fit the N Rhone theme? Yes it does we are told. Some blood and soil on the nose. There is Syrah there and something else - but what? One perceptive taster mentioned the Palmer / Hermitage bottling, and this is evidently something similar, perhaps in reverse. Decent stuff, will be interesting to see how it ages.

This was great and a wine one could happily spend an evening contemplating. On the nose - red fruits, some depth. On the palate, savoury, just a hint of butyric acid.

My first time with the sainted Jamet? Maybe so - certainly no tasting notes. This was superb - as good as it gets. "Bacon all the way down" a fellow diner said, and I can't but agree. Perfect balance, some olive there, good acidity. Not sure how much further this has to go, but a real pleasure and privilege to be drinking it now.

Well 98 N Rhone is clearly the place to be. Oddly I found myself drinking this faster than the astounding Jamet which sat beside it. Intensity and length on the palate. A hint of florality, some discussion of rose petals at the table, and the idea that this comes from their inclusion of stems. Lovely stuff, rounding off an exquisite flight.

Served blind. On the nose - blood and soil - suggesting Cornas. The palate is elevated, not quite ethereal. Again, just lovely acidity and balance. On revelation - unlike the 98s, 95 gives the impression that it will go on for a long time. A real treat - possibly my favourite wine of dinner excepting the mega-flight...

Served blind. I wrote "bloody Irn Bru" and I stand by there. N Rhone earth and acid but some kind of non-sweet sweetness to it. A fellow diner who has tasted this wine several times proclaimed this the best bottle they've tasted, and I can certainly buy that.

Served blind. Some discussion of pepper - white vs black. This definitely had some white pepper, good acidity, again some floral notes, and a slight glossiness.

This was lovely but just missed the mark somehow. I suspect going through some sort of mute phase, or just suffered by being sat beside such grand wines. Will leave it a little while to get my next one out...

On the nose and palate - this is fully ready to go. Lots of camp fire here, the acidity is holding it all together. Jolly nice stuff, but I wouldn't be hanging on to it for too long I don't think.

Standard! Lovely way to start proceedings. Some discussion about how young it is - I'm sure it has a way to go, but so very enjoyable now.
