75/79/81. A more red fruited edition with an array of toasted herbs. This is texturally lithe and dances across the palate with length and precision. Seamless and elegant.

75/79/81. Wow, excellent nose of strawberry, rhubarb, balsamico and herbs. Similar to the 75 but with more weight and power but perhaps less lift/elegance.

75/79/81. Wow, this is so pure with more brightness and freshness than the 75 or 79 but with similar complexity of herb/spice layered into the strawberry and rhubarb fruit. Early peak and deliciously good.

91/94/Especial (94 96 00). Wow, this is an outstanding vintage of Unico with gorgeous pure strawberry and cherry and emerging spice complexity. Seamless. Shy of peak drinking, but so delicious already. Upside from here.

91/94/Especial (94 96 00). Large scaled with darker baritone fruit. Rich and decadent. Fun now, but so much potential in 20+ years.

91/94/Especial (94 96 00). Interestingly and clearly a different animal than the Unico. More high toned and elegant, while still true to the herb and spice driven complexity. Ethereal and a special wine in its own right.

02/04/05/08. A big powerhouse of a wine. Tight and structured. Needs a few decades.

02/04/05/08. The most interesting and approachable of the flight but nowhere close to peak drinking even if this is showing some signs of approachability with its open-knit fruit.

02/04/05/08. Similar to the 02 with large-scale and powerful fruit. Primary and brooding. Cellar for 25-30+ years.

02/04/05/08. Somewhere in between the 02/05 and 04 as its modestly approachable and showing some integration, but again three decades shy of a peak drinking window.

13/14. Rich, dense with lots of wood musk at this stage. Packed with intense, flavorful fruit. Essentially a barrel sample.

13/14. Pre-release bottle from the domaine. Like the 13 side-by-side this drinks like a barrel sample with intense/packed fruit and musky oak spice. Searching for some differences, perhaps the 14 is more firm/tannic.

1953 Bodegas Vega-Sicilia Ribera del Duero Único 99 Points
Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero
53/66/70. Domaine library bottle, where only ~100 bottles remain. Original cork is in pristine condition. Hauntingly and astonishingly young. Fresh red and blue fruits are laced with well-integrated herbs and wood spice. Precise, lingering finish even gains intensity/weight with time. Wow.

1966 Bodegas Vega-Sicilia Ribera del Duero Único 95 Points
Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero
53/66/70. Another tremendous bottle. More barritone, tarry and wild but still with the fruitcake and red berries. Excellent freshness and length. Some coffee notes in the long finish.

1970 Bodegas Vega-Sicilia Ribera del Duero Único 95 Points
Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero
53/66/70. This is bold and fresh with plenty going on but not as expressive and precise as a bottle from a few months ago, nor as commanding as the 53 and 66 in the same flight.
