Steely yellow straw; sweet oak, acacia, melon, custardy, musk melon, lemon verbena, lemongrass, some sort of cleaner- almost artificial smell, guava, pithy, a little salt but fairly neutral, medium bodied; I found this to be ok today and I'm sure time will only benefit this; '18 Lynch Bages Blanc?
Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley
Deeper extraction, brighter reddish violet rim; deep nose, plush, velvety nose, dense, tar, black fruit, plum; dense and extracted on the palate too but it wants to show a cooler climate influence, liqueured, textured, cocoa, tobacco, serious and deep; Clarendon Hills Syrah?
Pretty soft yellow color; limestone, lemon, good weight but a coolness and minerality to it, creme fraiche, taut, white flowers, finish is a little clipped, hint of mint, somewhat neutral overall; Burg then ended up in Oregon Chardonnay; very nice.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits, Chambolle-Musigny
A little cloudy ruby with paler pretty rim; violets, pepper, sour plum, mineral, mushroom, fleshy, a little bloody, elegant but lots of character (maybe from some whole cluster?), layers of floral, pretty yet deep, slight herbal edge, sweet fresh and showing well for its youth.
France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Saint-Aubin 1er Cru
Saturated greenish straw; khaki, oily, reduction, grilled nuts, peaches, glazed fruit, exotic, spearmint, eggy, sesame seeds; stellar bottle, so distinctive, called Southern Meursault from Roulot- should have paid attention to the spearmint; WOTN by a country mile.
Pretty see through ruby violet; aromatic, floral, dusty, raspberry, violets, soft and pretty, gentler tannins, blue and tart red fruit- plums and raspberries, sun dried tomato, some sun baked fruit, very pretty; I'd describe this as Grenache meets Volnay.
Pretty see through crimson with orange rim; cherry, roses, orange, menthol, herbs, beautiful and elegant, so refined and sensual; called 2017 Scavino Ravera.
Opaque core with dull violet rim; kalamata olives leap from the glass, green peppercorns, mushroom, smoky granite, wilted violets, powerful and extracted, whole cluster, a little mousey and biological on the finish which reminds of either Clape or Maxime Graillot; called 2012 Graillot Guiraude- yes!
