Bubble Tasting - NYC- Wine Berserkers and Co.

Had such a great time hosting the Domaine Tempier Tasting last month, that I had to host another before end of year - and that calls for bubbles! Everyone brought one Great Champagne and sparkling (qpr-ish?) surprise.

• 2017 Marguet Champagne Grand Cru Ambonnay Rosé 69 Points

  France, Champagne, Champagne Grand Cru

  The Marguet bottle variation strikes again. I’m not marking flawed or defective bc I think this is weirdly a part of the house experience.
  
  This was liner, jagged, there was no giving in the fruit or the flower.
  
  When Marguet hits its great, but with the price increases over the years the gamble feels more painful.

• 2013 Lambert de Seyssel Seyssel Royal 80 Points

  Utterly peculiar. Worth a purchase.
  
  I’ve never had Molette or Altese. There is a heaviness in the nose and mouth. kombucha meets apple pie. Some persimmon. Salt crust. Texture is a bit obese, but in a good way.
  
  Best within the first hour.

  For the price, it’s a good value. Persimmon and unwashed mushroom adding some complexity to nose; otherwise, plain Jane apples and citrus touch.

Fantastic evening. Phil's bread brought out the cheese and maple butter. Managed to end much earlier than last time, but still...:)
