  • 2583 bottles. Zero dosage. Insanity. It's pure sparkling wild strawberry juice on the nose and in the mouth and then you learn it's only 20% Pinot Noir, the remaining 80% is Chardonnay. Biodynamic magic, I guess. Margeut has quicky become one of my favorite producers, with wines each so unique and full of personality that it changes the way you think of champagne. This one is fresh, extremely confident, bold. Too bold, maybe, as the only thing stopping it from eternal greatness is the lack of restraint and the mad dominance of the fruit. Incredible orange color with hues of gold. Natural but so beautiful and unique it almost looks digital. 10°C recommended temp. A fantastic rose that will win any table over.

  • Bubble Tasting - NYC- Wine Berserkers and Co. (New York City): The Marguet bottle variation strikes again. I’m not marking flawed or defective bc I think this is weirdly a part of the house experience.

This was liner, jagged, there was no giving in the fruit or the flower.

When Marguet hits its great, but with the price increases over the years the gamble feels more painful.

  • Previous reviewer basically nails it. My first time trying this acclaimed grower and it did not disappoint. Vibrant salmon, pink, copper hue in the glass. Explosive nose right off the bat: cherry, raspberry, lemon rind, so much going on. After the wine settled down a bit, the palate had all of the above but also developed some very interesting secondary notes of caramel and roasted nuts that were well framed with the bracing acidity. The wine had so much going on, hard to believe it’s zero dosage - that tells you the fruit selection is excellent. I’m definitely buying some of this to cellar - this wine will age gracefully. As an aside, it seems most of the grand marques are not releasing this vintage which, at least here, looks quite promising.

  • Man I just love the champagnes from the hands of Benoît Marguet.
A Rosé on 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir frn 2017, bottled in June 2018 and disgorged in March 2022 with, of course, 0 dosage.

Color is quite soft. A mix of pink, copper and salmon. Great bubbles.

There's so much structure to this champagne, and it feels both light, precise, structured and powerful at the same time.
Strawberry, raspberry, redcurrant and roses, mixed together with a bit of cantaloupe, warm vanilla fudge, orange, citrus fruits, nut paste, chalk and wet stone.
Amazing balance with the acidity and 0 dosage and every single sniff and sip felt different and evolved with more and more air.

I'd keep this a few more years in the cellar, but I can understand if you can't keep your hands off...

  • Unlike the 2017 Oger, this is immediately Marguet on the nose with that hint of coconut, and split-ripe mirabelle. The palate feels thinner and less concentrated than other vintages of this wine, but it's surprisingly friendly and happy to drink today. Love the deeply savory finish. Not the best example of this, but drinking great today - my #2 in this lineup.

  • 80% Chardonnay, 20% Pinot noir, disgorged March 2022 without dosage. 2,583 bottles produced. Very rich feel and flavor up front. Red fruit, some spice, creaminess. Easy drinking, but not my style.

  • Short note - structured, long finish, very juicy and vinous. Very good quality, maybe outstanding in future, 91p+

  • Lovely, precise, elegant wine. Rather lithe and beautiful with sushi. If I was to quibble, perhaps a touch more depth would be welcome. 80 chard/20 pinot noir. March 2022 disgorged.

  • Lovely, complex, melon and strawberry scented nose. Lightly ripe and complex palate showing melon, cucumber and berries. A wine to relax into and consider fondly. Just lovely.
