Visit to Henri Gouges

Lovely the style of Henri Gouges with pure fruits and vibrant acid. More approachable young compared to the older style. 2022 was very impressive with good freshness and dense fruits.

  Liquorice, jam, oak does not seem integrated here. Stemmy on the palate with good acid and med finish.

  Slight clumsy bouquet, hint of heat, good freshness on the palate with high acid and silky tannins. Not my preferred style of Clos des Porrets.

  Pure blue fruits aroma, hint of jam notes, good mid palate with spice vibrant acid ending with sandy tannins and savoury finish. Stunning!

  Coming after Vacrains, this seems more muted and less expressive. Slight jammy, liquorice, dense palate but lacks structure and complexity. This was coravin from a bottle.

  Coming from a new fresh bottle, this is much better than the earlier pour which seemed tired. This had intense aroma of earth, mushroom, blue fruits, full body on the palate with blood, spice box and bright acid profile. Tannins were sandy with long persistent finish.

  First ever taste of 2022 burg, recently bottled. This was bursting with pure blue fruits, cassis, orange peel, lovely acidity, fine tannins with lots of freshness.
