Visit to Henri Gouges (Henri Gouges Cellar Door): Coming from a new fresh bottle, this is much better than the earlier pour which seemed tired. This had intense aroma of earth, mushroom, blue fruits, full body on the palate with blood, spice box and bright acid profile. Tannins were sandy with long persistent finish.

Visit to Henri Gouges (Henri Gouges Cellar Door): Coming after Vacrains, this seems more muted and less expressive. Slight jammy, liquorice, dense palate but lacks structure and complexity. This was coravin from a bottle.

Quite thrilling. Deep dark fruits, zingy, banged all over the place, really thrilling for an hour or so with cheeses. Left it alone then returned with a lamb pairing. Had tightened a bit. Currently this is a pop and pour for sheer pleasure.

had this in Newport at a Board offsite, superb wine with loads of zippy red fruit and great spice, tension and lift from the acidity but nonetheless rich if high-toned... boy oh boy... this delivers, should be fantastic for several decades

Françoise and Pierre preferred it to the Pruliers and the Vaucrains.
