    light yellow in color, medium bodied with citrus & lime notes, very clean and refreshing. not a complex wine but a nice palate cleanser for the wines too come...

  • 2004 Pavillon Blanc du Château Margaux 91 Points

    France, Bordeaux

    medium to golden yellow in color. a bit more evolved than expected. full bodied with a nutty characteristic of almonds, vanilla and ripe lemon. this wine has nice structure and acidity on the finish. this is in a very good place. drink up!

Flight 2 - Pichon Lalande & Mouton (8 Notes)

  • 1983 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 89 Points

    France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac

    incredible youthful color with no signs of bricking. obviously stored well. medium amber red in color. earthy and forest floor notes with sour cherry fruit. tannins were fully integrated on the finish. started out fresh and clean but as time pasted this wine started to fade in the glass. a very nice wine and a pleasure to drink but imho this is on the decline.

    Much denser than the 83. powerpacked with wonderful red fruit, spice and tobacco. incredibly complex and youthful. this wine is drinking at its peak. has all the characteristics that i'm looking for in a mature Bordeaux.

    terrific nose, full bodied with classic notes of cassis, tobacco and rich currant. so smooth and youthful with a long lingering finish. amazingly fresh and powerful.

    medium to full bodied wine with flavors of cherry, chocolate and spice box. nice texture and wonderful balance with silky smooth tannins on the finish.

    wonderful color but definitely was a contrast in taste to the other Mouton's. medium bodied & earthy with sour cherries and a tart acidic finish. my least favorite of the flight.

    medium to full bodied with loads of earthy and dark berry flavors. this wine is tannic and powerful and needs time for the tannins to integrate with the fruit. obviously hold.

    nose of mature plum. full bodied and well balanced wine with sweet tannins that is ripe and delicious with a silky smooth finish. explosive and true to the vintage.

Flight 3 - Haut-Brion & Lafite (6 Notes)

    my contribution. poured into a decanter at 8 am and stored in the refrigerator at 37 degs. for 8.5 hrs. poured back into the bottle and transported to the tasting . full bodied, rich and complex with notes of blackberry, spice box, cedar and cassis. wonderful finesse and balance. I terrific effort!

    wow. what an epic wine. everything that you would want and more. full bodied, dense and silky smooth tannins with terrific balance and structure. this wine was a stand out and showing incredibly well. the harmony of fruit and other components in this wine is stunning & simply breathtaking.

    Wonderful nose of crushed red & blue berries. Silky smooth on the palate with wonderful structure and complexity. This was an interesting wine that had terrific balance & seemed to change and gain a little weight in the glass. my personal #2 wotn for reds.

    Full bodied & tannic as hell. Seemed to have good structure but the fruit was muted. Perhaps with a little air this would have shown better, or perhaps its a sign of the vintage......

    Very youthful in appearance. Medium bodied and lively on the palate with flavors of lemon, honey and pineapple. This wine picked up weight as it sat in the glass but overall lacked complexity.

    Out of 1.5 liter. Full bodied and concentrated with wonderful complexities and nuances. Such a treat to drink. What a way to cap off an evening after drinking over18 first growths. Thanks Dave!
