For starters a Champagne & White Bordeaux
incredible youthful color with no signs of bricking. obviously stored well. medium amber red in color. earthy and forest floor notes with sour cherry fruit. tannins were fully integrated on the finish. started out fresh and clean but as time pasted this wine started to fade in the glass. a very nice wine and a pleasure to drink but imho this is on the decline.

Much denser than the 83. powerpacked with wonderful red fruit, spice and tobacco. incredibly complex and youthful. this wine is drinking at its peak. has all the characteristics that i'm looking for in a mature Bordeaux.

terrific nose, full bodied with classic notes of cassis, tobacco and rich currant. so smooth and youthful with a long lingering finish. amazingly fresh and powerful.

wonderful color but definitely was a contrast in taste to the other Mouton's. medium bodied & earthy with sour cherries and a tart acidic finish. my least favorite of the flight.

medium to full bodied with loads of earthy and dark berry flavors. this wine is tannic and powerful and needs time for the tannins to integrate with the fruit. obviously hold.

nose of mature plum. full bodied and well balanced wine with sweet tannins that is ripe and delicious with a silky smooth finish. explosive and true to the vintage.

my contribution. poured into a decanter at 8 am and stored in the refrigerator at 37 degs. for 8.5 hrs. poured back into the bottle and transported to the tasting . full bodied, rich and complex with notes of blackberry, spice box, cedar and cassis. wonderful finesse and balance. I terrific effort!

medium bodied wine that was sandwiched between the 98 & 00. youthful and tannic with red fruit, minerals & smoke. slightly short & lean on the finish

Wonderful nose of crushed red & blue berries. Silky smooth on the palate with wonderful structure and complexity. This was an interesting wine that had terrific balance & seemed to change and gain a little weight in the glass. my personal #2 wotn for reds.

Full bodied & tannic as hell. Seemed to have good structure but the fruit was muted. Perhaps with a little air this would have shown better, or perhaps its a sign of the vintage......

Restrained and tannic, a little heat on the finish. This wine seemed a little out of balance.

Dill & tart cherry flavors dominated this wine. A little bitter and underripe.

Very expressive nose of crushed berries. On the midpalate cherry, cassis & tobacco. Finely grained tannins and a silky smooth finish. This wine is drinking extremely well.

More expressive on the nose than the 85. Full bodied but softer and a bit more feminine than the Latours in this flight. Another solid wine but not a block buster by any means.

Big fruit forward wine that is rather soft and elegant on the palate. Wonderful structure and complexities.

The least ripe of all the Latours. Black & green olives, bell pepper, dark bitter chocolate and tart red fruit. Not a wine that I embrace

Very youthful in appearance. Medium bodied and lively on the palate with flavors of lemon, honey and pineapple. This wine picked up weight as it sat in the glass but overall lacked complexity.

Always a pleasure to drink d'Yquem. Such a baby and will take years to evolve.

Out of 1.5 liter. Full bodied and concentrated with wonderful complexities and nuances. Such a treat to drink. What a way to cap off an evening after drinking over18 first growths. Thanks Dave!
