Ann cooked a killer pork tenderloin stuffed with prosciutto, rosemary and thyme with some sort of wine reduction sauce with with some of the Tocai Friuliano and mushrooms. We also had roasted vegetables with thyme and rosemary. Brett, Carol and Patti came over. Lots of fun and great food.
It was fun trying some of the 07's. Definitely a ripe vintage. It will be fun to see how they age.

Nice crisp wine with citrusy notes. Enjoyable.

Soft, ripe and easy drinking. A little bit of spice, candied black cherry fruit. A good quaffing wine.

2007 Château de Beaucastel Côtes du Rhône Coudoulet de Beaucastel 91 Points
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Côtes du Rhône
Very nice. More complex then the Alary Cairrane Village wine; Ripe, darker fruits with some meaty notes; more acidity and tannins. I really like this.

2007 Domaine Saint Préfert Châteauneuf-du-Pape Réserve Auguste Favier 91 Points
France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Châteauneuf-du-Pape
A step up from the Coudoulet de Beaucastel in structure and body. However at this stage I don't think it is as complex. This showed candied fruits and as James Moleworths review said smoked apple wood. This also has some spice and the 15.5%abv was poking through. Still it is very solid and a crowd pleaser - this was the first bottle to be emptied. I will wait a while on the rest.

2002 Château La Mothe du Barry 88 Points
France, Bordeaux, Bordeaux Supérieur
For what is supposed to be a poor vintage, I found this wine to be pretty good. Classic pencil lead, earth and faint bell pepper and a decent amount of black/dark fruits. Tons of sediment. In a good drinking window and easy to identify as Bordeaux. I liked this but Ann not so much so due to the pencil lead notes.
